TRAINING FOR PUPPIES
Manners for Mutts specializes in helping you get your new puppy off to the best start possible. A training program for puppies as young as 8 weeks of age will be designed and implemented in your home. Avoid problem behaviors with early training and socialization.
Lessons will include: |
| |
House and crate training |
| |
Learning to walk on a leash |
| |
What is and is not acceptable to chew on |
| |
Handling exercises |
Basic obedience commands: |
| |
Sit |
| |
Down |
| |
Come when called |
| |
Drop it (Spit that out!) |
| |
Leave it (Don’t put that in your mouth!) |
You will also be educated as to the best way for you to socialize your new puppy, so that he or she can learn about the outside world in the safest possible manner. |

DOGGIE DAY SCHOOL
Ever wish someone would just come to your house and train your dog? Well, your wish has been granted! Manners for Mutts will come to your house and work with your dog, one-on-one, to teach basic obedience behaviors, and then teach you the skills you need to maintain your dog’s new behaviors. The best part; you don’t even need to be there!
A typical Day School program consists of: |
| |
The initial consultation (o.k., for this you need to be here!). |
| |
A number of sessions per week (usually 2 or 3) where our trainer works with your dog for 1 hour at a time. |
| |
A “handover” session once a week to show you what your dog has learned and transfer that training to you. |
| |
Follow up sessions to make sure you and your dog remain successful. |
Why choose this option? |
| |
Because you’re very busy. |
| |
Because you want a well behaved dog but don’t want to be a dog trainer. |
| |
Because it’s fast. |
| |
Because it works. |
Doggie Day School works very well for basic obedience training and minor problem solving. |
Doggie Day School is similar to “board and train” programs without having to send your dog away. Your dog remains in your home while still being trained by a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. Though the program is designed for the trainer to do most of the work, the owner is required to follow management instructions and practice some training exercises.

BASIC OBEDIENCE TRAINING
Training for adolescent or adult dogs is tailored to the specific needs of each pet based on what you, the dog’s owner, want. All of our training is based on teaching, and then rewarding, your dog for proper behavior. I never use harsh punishment in my training.

BUILD YOUR OWN CLASS
You and your friends all have dogs that misbehave in one way or another. You all agree that the dogs need training. Why not get together and form your own class?
You decide what to train and what behaviors to work on. |
Manners for Mutts will meet with all of you, at a location of your choice, and work with you and your dogs as a group. |
You get the benefits of a group class, such as built-in distractions and lower cost, along with the benefits of customized, private lessons all in one package! |
Suitable for groups of 2 to 5 dogs. |
Build your own class is truly the best of all worlds. You choose the people, place, time and behaviors. Learn in a relaxed atmosphere because you are with your friends. Get together between sessions to practice, after all isn’t it more fun to do your homework together?
